First Visit
Child's First Pediatric Dental Visit
At Anaheim Hills Pediatric Dentistry, we feel that the most important thing we can do is create a positive and welcoming dental home for your child. At your first visit, Dr. Sahar and her team will be focused on getting to know you and your child in a warm and friendly environment. Dr. Sahar prides herself in spending quality time with her patients to discuss not just the child's dental health but their overall health. We believe oral health is more than just teeth and Dr. Sahar will make recommendations to ensure you and your child are set up for success. As a mother herself, Dr. Sahar is all too familiar with the challenges of parenthood and hopes she can make coming to the dentist as stress-free as possible.
When should I bring my child in for their first visit?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that every child visits the dentist by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming in. Changes in oral development occur very quickly in the early years of childhood and establing a good dental routine from an early age can prevent problems down the line. Bringing your child to our office for routine appointments from a young age will also help to establish a strong and comfortable relationship with us.
What to expect?
Shortly after making your first appointment with us, you will be asked to fill out some forms prior to the visit. Please let us know if you have any difficulty accessing the documents. On the day of the appointment, you will accompany your child back to the room. If he or she doesn't feel comfortable sitting in the chair, please feel free to sit with your child in your lap or if your child is younger, Dr. Sahar will perform a lap or knee-to-knee exam. Our dental chairs are equipped with TVs right above to give kids a more enjoyable experience. If necessary, digital x-rays will also be taken to allow Dr. Sahar to identify any potential issues that may not be visible. A thorough cleaning will also be done to remove any plaque, tarter, and staining. Dr. Sahar will provide guidance on proper at home care to ensure that teeth and gums stay healthy.
Your child's first visit is an important one and we look forward to meeting you!
